Gym Intimidation

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

Most couch potatoes are contented with their unfit and overweight health, as shown on a survey.  Most of them are intimidated of going to the gym to get themselves physically fit.  Those who are not fit thinks that they must be in “respectable shape” before going into the gym.  They are afraid that they will be the only one in the gym who isn’t that attractive.  But that’s the whole essence of getting into the gym, to get fit.  People there aren’t fit as well when they first went there.  Intimidation could really be a hindrance, especially when most people in there are in perfect shape.  But instead of getting intimidated, why don’t you get inspired by them?  Just think that they achieved that shape because of constantly going into the gym?

Some excuses of couch potatoes of not going to the gym are: they don’t know what to do when they get there; people in the gym are rude; they are afraid to ask questions.  Still intimidated because of their extra-ordinary shapes.  Well, you should just have enough confidence to face it.  Just think that they won’t really mind you, because they really won’t.  Remember that you are in a fitness center and you are there to get yourself fit.  So it is NORMAL.  Once you have started it, you will feel better.  That’s the only phase that you are going to conquer actually.  The rest will be going to be fine.  Though with your exercises, you may not feel fine with it at first but it is for your health, so be determined to do it.

Success Story of a Couch Potato

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

Here is an inspiring success story of a couch potato. From being one, he became a furniture king. It all started from being on the couch and creating something that he could benefit while “couch potatoing” as well. Out of a simple idea, he is now a successful entrepreneur!

Take time to read his story and get inspired:

At age 18, Shawn Nelson was watching TV on the couch when he decided “a huge beanbag thing” might be more comfortable. He bought 14 yards of vinyl, cut it into a baseball shape, and spent three weeks filling it with anything soft he could find. The finished LoveSac was 7 feet wide, and everyone who saw it tried it out–and loved it.

When neighbors started placing orders, Nelson decided to start his company almost as a joke. With free help from his friends, he made the LoveSacs in his parents’ basement and sold them at trade shows, events and even the drive-in. Business was moderate at best, until he got a call on his cell phone that changed his life: a quarter-million-dollar order from Too Inc., which was looking for a back-to-school offering for its Limited Too stores. “I answered the phone and said, ‘Twelve thousand LoveSacs? Sure, no problem. That’s what we do; we’re the best in the world at it,’” remembers Nelson.
